A retrospective of visual artist Yechel Gagnon by designer Réjean Myette.
Yechel Gagnon is a Canadian Visual Artist and holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree (Studio Arts) from Concordia University in Montreal and an AOCAD with Honours in Drawing and Painting from the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto. She is the recipient of numerous grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, Conseil des arts de Longueuil, and the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, who awarded her the prestigious CALQ Creator of the Year award. Her works are exhibited in galleries and museums nationally and internationally. Her public artworks and exhibitions have attracted frequent reviews by noted critics and curators. Commissions of public artworks have been awarded to her by cultural institutions, medical centers, colleges, and universities. Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art in Calgary, Carol Rubenstein Associates in Philadelphia, and Cynthia-Reeves in New Hampshire currently represent Gagnon.
Gagnon's current project is a 130-foot-long bas-relief mural awarded through Quebec's Art and Architecture Integration Policy. A retrospective of Yechel Gagnon's work is revealed in a new book designed by Réjean Myette, a specialist in museum publications. It shows the various facets of her artistic practice, from public art installations to large-scale ephemeral drawings to custom-made carved plywood.
