In a rare fusion of horology and Japanese artistry, Patek Philippe presents the “Yellow-Crested Cockatoo”, a limited edition Golden Ellipse wristwatch that elevates enamel work to a transcendent level. Inspired by an 18th-century silk painting by Japanese master Itô Jakuchû, the dial captures a serene cockatoo perched on a pine branch—rendered in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel with extraordinary precision.
Each of the ten dials in this ultra-limited edition is handcrafted using approximately 90 cm of hand-shaped gold wire and over 20 nuanced shades of translucent, opaque, and opalescent enamel. Finesse is achieved through miniature painting on enamel, with each dial undergoing roughly 15 firings at over 800°C to bring the imagery to life.
Encased in yellow gold, the Golden Ellipse’s harmonious proportions—based on the golden ratio—frame the artistry with understated elegance. Inside beats the ultra-thin caliber 240 self-winding movement, a technical marvel worthy of the watch’s visual splendor.
Paired with a coral-hued, hand-stitched alligator strap and finished with a yellow-gold elliptical prong buckle, the “Yellow-Crested Cockatoo” is less a timepiece and more a museum-worthy miniature masterpiece.
Only ten exist. For the collector, it is a fleeting glimpse of eternity—on the wrist.
