There is a particular kind of clarity that comes from long commitment. Via Acalones, a five-year residential journey in Palos Verdes Estates, is the result of that kind of patience, shaped by trust, resilience, and a shared belief in doing things properly from the start. Designed by Christine Vroom Interiors, the home reads as composed and effortless, but behind that calm is a process marked by conviction and an unusually steady partnership between designer and clients.

The story began with a spontaneous decision. The homeowners purchased the hillside lot without fully knowing what the road ahead would require, drawn simply by the view and the feeling it gave them. From the first conversation, Vroom recalls, there was an immediate alignment. “They pretty much hired me on our first call,” she says. “It was an instant connection. From that point on we had nothing but trust.” That trust would be tested by years of city approvals, neighborhood challenges, weather delays, and heavy rains, yet it never wavered. “The overall moral of this story,” Vroom adds, “is that they did not waiver in their trust for the team. Not even once.”

That confidence allowed the design to unfold with integrity. The foyer sets the tone, welcoming guests with sculptural Quintus chairs layered over a Kravet rug, anchored by a Hooker entry table. A chandelier from RH provides a sense of scale, while Visual Comfort sconces soften the transition into the home. Upstairs, the hall continues the narrative with an Eric Lindstrom rug and Arteriors chairs upholstered in Kravet fabric, creating continuity without repetition.

In the living room, the architecture gives way to comfort. A custom sofa upholstered in Threads fabric is paired with a Vanguard coffee table and Bernhardt Astoria chairs wrapped in Kravet mohair. Blue accent chairs in Kravet fabric on a Rowe Lyra frame add depth, while a Jaipur rug grounds the seating arrangement. Small ottomans by Jessica Charles introduce flexibility, and fireplace slabs from Ollin Stone bring weight and permanence. Even the details are intentional, from Top Knobs and Ashley Norton hardware to the way the room invites conversation rather than formality. The adjacent lounge shifts the mood slightly, offering a more intimate setting. Arteriors chairs with custom Kravet fabric face a Bernhardt coffee table atop a Kravet rug, with a Visual Comfort fixture providing a warm overhead glow. It is a space designed for pause, equally suited to quiet evenings or late-night conversation.

The kitchen acts as the heart of the home, both visually and functionally. Pendants from Urban Electric hover above layered islands, while a backsplash from Maison Surfaces and Cristallo countertops from Architectural Surfaces catch the light throughout the day. Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances support serious cooking, complemented by Rohl plumbing fixtures. Metalwork on the secondary island by Martin Dewinter adds a tailored edge, and Top Knobs hardware keeps the composition refined rather than ornamental.

The dining room carries a sense of occasion without excess. A custom table and buffet anchor the space, layered over a Kravet rug and wrapped in Phillip Jeffries wallpaper. Farrow and Ball paint sets a rich backdrop for art sourced from Leftbank, while a Visual Comfort chandelier and sconces provide balanced illumination. Forbes and Lomax switches quietly reinforce the attention to detail.

Supporting spaces receive the same care. The pantry features Armac Martin hardware, a Cora chandelier from Visual Comfort, and floor tile by Maison Surfaces, with Cristallo countertops continuing the material language. In the powder room, Arte International wallpaper lines the walls, with a Kravet and Winfield Tybony ceiling treatment overhead. A Kohler sink and Newport Brass faucet sit beneath Urban Electric sconces and an RH mirror, proving that even the smallest room carries personality.

The bar becomes a destination of its own. White oak wainscoting wraps the walls, while Winfield Tybony and Kravet wallpaper lines the ceiling. Vanguard barstools upholstered in Metaphores mohair face countertops of gray Cristallo from Ollin Stone. Metalwork by Martin Dewinter, Armac Martin hardware, and J Adams pendants complete the composition. Nearby, the bar lounge introduces a custom sofa, Bernhardt chairs in Kelly Wearstler and Kravet fabric, a custom Thibaut coffee table, and an Eric Lindstrom rug, with Hudson Valley sconces setting the mood.

Private spaces continue the narrative. The primary bedroom features a custom Kravet bed dressed in TL at Home bedding, paired with an Arteriors sofa in Thibaut fabric. Visual Comfort lighting and a Kravet rug create a calm retreat, while thoughtful details like Armac Martin mesh in the dog area reinforce how closely the design follows daily life. The primary bath balances elegance and function with a Regina Andrew chandelier, Urban Electric sconces, Newport Brass plumbing, and Bluette stone from Ollin.

In the office, Fibreworks rugs, RH desks, Bernhardt chairs upholstered in Kravet fabric, and Visual Comfort sconces create a focused yet comfortable workspace. Throughout the home, art from Celadon, Leftbank, and General Population adds personality without overwhelming the architecture. Paint selections from Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, and Farrow and Ball maintain cohesion, with Simply White by Benjamin Moore acting as a quiet through line.

What distinguishes Via Acalones is not any single gesture, but the consistency of belief behind it. “They go big and they go hard,” Vroom says. “Whatever fit or looked right, we went with. I fought for the design when needed, always for the greater good of the home.” That resolve is felt in every room. The house feels settled, confident, and deeply personal. As Vroom reflects, “My heart is so fully satisfied with not only the design, but the entire process. We have become friends, and this is their forever home. They are absolutely in love.”

Via Acalones stands as a reminder that the best interiors are built not only with materials and talent, but with trust sustained over time.
