Nashville has long been recognized for its popular music and entertainment offerings, hence its moniker “Music City.” Named one of the U.S.’s top places to live and visit, and is a leading market for world-class companies, Nashville is also home to a vibrant culinary and art scene. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that songwriter, artist, and musician, Ken Alphin, better known as Big Kenny of Big & Rich, and his A-list celebrity wardrobe stylist wife, Christiev, chose the locale to build a custom home to celebrate the things they love - music, family, and friends.

Situated on two acres on one of Nashville’s most prestigious streets, the custom-built French chateau, aptly named Chateau Di Amore, was completed in 2008. As entrepreneurs and visionaries, Ken and Christiev’s built a paradise for family and friends that captured their loving spirit and reflected their values. During its construction, the couple paid careful attention to how family and friends would navigate the nearly 20,000-square-foot estate while maintaining a sense of intimacy. Gracefully succeeding at the task at hand, the couple created a penultimate estate filled with every imaginable amenity wrapped in elegance, style, and comfort.

Chateau Di Amore possesses the talismanic power to make those who venture across its threshold feel instantly mesmerized. “As the gate opens to the immaculately groomed grounds, an inner calm sets in as you approach the stunning entrance adorned with custom iron and woodwork artistry. Superior craftsmanship and quality of life are what you experience at Chateau Di Amore. It is a place to entertain, create, exercise, swim, play in the garden, make memories, and embrace every minute. Universal love has become the estate’s trademark personality,” explains Amy Smith Jackson, the property’s listing advisor with Engel & Völkers Nashville.

In the creation of this masterpiece, no detail was overlooked. As you enter the doorway, intricate finishes begin to unveil themselves, starting with the hand-scripted passages on the riser’s of the grand floating staircase. The iron chandelier coupled with floor to ceiling French doors and windows cast light upon the rich paneled walls and coved twenty-seven-foot ceilings. The hand stacked stone fireplace, luxurious wood finishes, and vibrant custom drapery with intricate trimmings are extremely inviting as they perfectly complement the design elements personally crafted by the Lady of the House.

In true Southern tradition, Ken and Christiev created a dream kitchen designed to unite family and friends. The large, open plan provides plenty of space to break bread, share recipes, and create lifelong memories. Complete with finely appointed custom cabinetry, chandeliers, top-of-the-line Wolf and Subzero appliances, and gorgeous countertops, this kitchen is the heart of the home.

The gracious first floor master suite is equally befitting with a private study, ensuite bath, spacious dressing rooms, and French doors leading to the stone brunch patio overlooking the private gardens and pool. Custom drapery with precious silk and embroidered velvet and brocade continues to accent the home’s elegance. In the master bath, a five-foot luxury white porcelain air jet bath takes center stage surrounded by custom vanities with honed marble tops and French doors.

Seven additional bedrooms provide an abundance of space and privacy for family and guests. In one children’s room, upon request of the youngest family member, the owners created a magical wonderland incorporating an extraordinary ship bed from which you gaze at the glowing stars on the bedroom’s ceiling above. The same playful spirit is unearthed in the children’s playroom. Complete with a stage, the room is reminiscent of the ultimate toy store, FAO Schwartz.

Staff or long-term guests will surely enjoy the secluded apartment located on the home’s third floor. The large living room, full kitchen, and two lovely bedrooms, each with a private bath, illustrate how the combination of beauty and form serves the estate’s superior functionality.

The entertainment spaces are stunning, and the options endless. Gather in the authentic 1800s pub that was imported from Ireland. “Retrofitted with lighting fixtures and sink, the wood service bar has all original beveled and stained glass doors and ceiling. The cork walls showcase photographs of family, friends, and travel while the velvet corner seating adds a touch of whimsy. The stained glass sign and deep red velvet drapes call people to gather, engage and celebrate just as one would in a pub on a tiny Ireland street,” reveals Amy Jackson Smith.

The private dining room comfortably seats 14 with views into the 1,000-bottle wine cellar. The antique bronze chandelier suspended above the table is a work of art with metal and stained glass. Behind tapestry drapes, a hidden 60-inch television assures you never miss gameplay or your favorite televised concert.

Next on the dazzle-meter, the crown jewel, a 3,800 square foot commercial recording and film studio located in a separate, but attached, structure to the primary residence. Known as the Last Dollar Studio the professional recording studio inspires synergetic creativity and features three sound booths, a large session room, and an expansive control room located on the lower level that includes audio and visual communication capabilities with the upstairs tracking room. Many famous songs were recorded within this hit-making space. As stated by Michael Cronin, one of the world’s most well-known studio designers, “No one has a studio any better than this one.”
