STEEL CHE’S
INDUSTRIAL ELEGANCE
Steel Che transforms discarded steel into
monumental sculptures that meld industrial grit
with artistic brilliance, debuting his bold vision
at the LA Art Show 2025.
Art in Dongsan, a dynamic gallery with roots in Seoul and Goyang, is set to captivate art enthusiasts at the LA Art Show 2025, held from February 19–23, 2025. The gallery will spotlight the extraordinary work of Steel Che, the artistic alias of renowned Korean sculptor Youngkwan Choi, whose metalwork transforms industrial materials into evocative pieces of contemporary art.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Steel Che brings a deeply personal connection to his craft. Influenced by his family’s ties to the steel industry and his academic foundation in art, Che’s sculptures are a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and avant-garde innovation. His works push the boundaries of materiality, reimagining steel not merely as a utilitarian resource but as a medium capable of storytelling and introspection.
The highlight of this exhibition is “Steam Robot,” a monumental sculpture that exemplifies Che’s artistic ethos. Crafted from discarded industrial steel, this piece encapsulates his philosophy of giving new life to materials deemed obsolete. Beyond its striking visual impact, “Steam Robot” invites viewers to contemplate themes of resilience, transformation, and the enduring beauty found in the unexpected. Che’s eclectic career, including notable collaborations with Harley Davidson Korea, underscores the versatility and depth of his artistic vision.
Through its showcase of Steel Che’s work, Art in Dongsan aims to celebrate the evolving narrative of Korean art on a global stage. Visitors to the LA Art Show 2025 will experience firsthand the seamless intersection of industrial heritage and modern sculpture, offering a unique lens through which to view the transformative potential of art in today’s world.
